Benefits of Modern Technology

Laser Cavity Detection!

While lasers were at one time just material for science fiction writers, they’ve become a common part of our everyday life. They zap through your groceries, they open garage doors... and now they can detect wear and tear or decay on your tooth’s surface before it becomes a deep cavity. DIAGNOdent™ is a revolutionary new dental laser tool that safely and painlessly detects changes that might not be visible on a traditional x-ray, even below your tooth’s surface. When the light source is directed at your tooth, anything unusual about the tooth’s surface – such as the beginnings of a surface breakdown, or the start of a cavity – causes a different type of light to be bounced back to the instrument. This light is transferred into an acoustic signal and the wavelength is then evaluated by the control unit. A numeric value given to each tooth lets you and the dentist know if there is a problem so that together we can decide on the appropriate preventive or restorative treatment. We want to ensure that every tooth remains yours for life, and that your visit to our office is comfortable and pleasant.  DIAGNOdent is a unique development that will not only reduce your need for x-rays, it will catch problems before they even get started. Best of all we are offering DIAGNOdent screening at absolutely no charge to all our patients. So the next time you are at the office ask for DIAGNOdent by name and let your smile shine with this cutting edge technology!

Your Teeth on TV?!

Have you ever wanted to see your mouth up close? Now you can see what we see while your examination is in progress. With the use of an Intra-oral camera your dentist can transmit a full-color picture of your teeth and gums onto a television or computer screen. The image is magnified almost  40 times its size to allow for better diagnosis. Most importantly, intraoral cameras allow patients to participate in co-diagnosis and better understand any dental problems that their dentist may find.

A five-minute fluoride treatment competes the procedure

No More Scraping?!

Piezo Scaler utilizes ultrasonic waves and warm antibacterial solution to clean patients teeth. Ultrasonic waves help to break down calculus minimizing need for scraping Ultrasonic waves are also known to kill bacteria on contact. Warm antibacterial solution is delivered below the gum where bacteria colonizes and disinfects the area promoting faster healing. Using warm solution from a self-contained reservoir minimizes patient sensitivity and prevents possible water line contamination.

Digital X-rays!

Our office is using new technology called Computer Digital Radiography. This technology allows for the same quality of x-rays to be taken with 90% less radiation exposure to the patient. In addition, CDR allows for better diagnosing because the image can be enlarge up to 400 times its size allowing dentist to see things which were previously too small for a human eye. The soft rounded sensor used with CDR instead of the old fashioned films is more comfortable because it eliminates that "pinching" sensation of the old x-rays.

This environmentally friendly technology does not produce waste or require toxic developing solutions like traditional x-rays.

Computers in Treatment Area?

Traditionally, computers may have been found at the front desk and used exclusively for accounting purposes. In the past few years, however, computers have moved into patient treatment areas and play an integral role in patient treatment. With our Dentrix Computer System we are now able to computerize all our patient records. Our "paperless" dental office not only saves trees but also ensures the most efficient customer service dentistry has to offer.  No more lost charts, misfiled x-rays, incomplete or lost records. Your personal and dental records are protected because all access is by password only. Our sophisticated regular back up prevents records from being damaged or lost. Your appointments can be scheduled and questions answered right in the treatment area eliminating another stop at the check-out counter. All insurance billing as well as benefits and eligibility verification is streamlined due to our electronic claim transmission and on-line insurance access. Even your medical history is computerized ensuring your safety and wellbeing. Patient education and wealth of dental information on the web can be accessed right there in the treatment area allowing us to present your options to you clearly. Our charting and treatment planning module allows us to document your dental condition, treatment options, fees, insurance coverage, x-rays and intra-oral photographs and print a copy of the record for your future reference. The best part of all this, is that is saves us a lot of time - the time that we can spend catching up with you!
