Sensitive Teeth

Tooth sensitivity can range from a mild discomfort to intense pain caused by exposure to cold, heat, sweets or even light touch with a finger or toothbrush. Sensitivity is usually caused by the exposure of the inner layer of the tooth called dentin. Dentin is softer than outer enamel and easily transmits stimuli to the nerve of the tooth.

Causes of Dentin Exposure

Tooth Decay

Gum Disease

Aggressive or incorrect brushing, hard or medium bristle toothbrush

Gum recession due to aging, bruxism or past gum disease.

Treatment Options

If you are experiencing tooth sensitivity, check with your dentist to eliminate the possibility of gum disease and tooth decay.

Make sure to always use a soft toothbrush and follow correct brushing routine.

There are many products and treatments that can eliminate sensitivity.

Check with your dentist or browse our Products section for recommended products to eliminate and prevent tooth sensitivity.

Application of Fluoride Varnish or Desensitizing Medicaments in a dental office usually relieves tooth sensitivity.
